In case you missed the most exciting email of 2021, yesterday OMMA sent out a notice to all Oklahoma cannabis licensees extending the Metrc Beginning Inventory On-boarding deadline by two months setting a new deadline of June 30th, 2021. Nothing like a last-minute extension!
From the get-go, there was a lack of education and training that left many licensees leaning on contractors, consultants, and 3rd party apps like GroLens to fill in the gaps and dig out a path allowing for any chance of success with mere setup. As cultivations rushed to meet the initial April 30th deadline, some still pending tags, others confused by the demands of execution but lack of information on how, OMMA and Metrc continued to lack answers regarding multiple processes that are considered common practice in Oklahoma like how will transfers of product work with door-to-door sales and how are cultivators supposed to enter their drying product that currently is unable to be tracked by plant or dry weight, and will lack the necessary wet weights required to create packages post beginning inventory shutdown.
These gaps in process alongside an active lawsuit between OMMA and nearly 10,000 licensees, it's no surprise an extension was granted.
